The South African higher education sector introduced structural changes, which resulted in the creation of universities of technology, (hereafter referred to as UoTs). There, however, has the not been any known studies that investigated organizational culture and job satisfaction among academic professionals at these new types of institutions in the country. This study’s main objective was to determine perceptions of organizational culture and their impact on job satisfaction among academic professionals at a University of Technology in the Free State Province, South Africa. The study’s respondents had positive perceptions of the organizational culture with academic professionals showing satisfaction with co-worker relations, supervision support and the work itself, as well as moderate satisfaction with the available advancement opportunities. Academic professionals were, however, dissatisfied with the salaries they were receiving. A significant correlation between overall organizational culture and job satisfaction was found.

Children as young as pre-school are experiencing difficulties related to stress, anxiety and inattention which could be supported through the use of mindfulness. However, there is very little research on how to effectively deliver mindfulness approaches within Early Years (EYs) practice. A year-long action research project was conducted with an EYs setting to explore how EYs practitioners can effectively deliver mindfulness, understanding their perceptions of the impact, facilitators and challenges to successful implementation. Findings revealed various facilitating factors including: developing effective and inclusive mindfulness approaches; reflecting on practice; working collaboratively and creating a supportive community. Challenges included issues related to the school context and delivery of mindful approaches. Findings revealed perceived benefits for the children, staff and the EYs setting. Implications for practice suggest it is feasible for school psychologists to support EYs settings to develop mindfulness practices using an action research approach. Future research and study limitations are discussed.

Teachers who experience job dissatisfaction tend to lose their joy and happiness in their work that leads to low motivation, performance, committment and eventually results in leaving their job. This brings long-term negative effects to the organization and provides opportunity for rivalry. Hence, a study on the practice of appropriate organizational culture need to be carried out to increase the level of the teachers' job satisfaction to enhance the performance of the organization. Recent studies in organizational culture, which involve three dimensions namely bureaucratic culture, innovative culture and supportive culture portrays the potential in influencing the teachers' job satisfaction. This study delves into the influence of the practice of these three dimensions in organizational culture towards the teachers' job satisfaction in the aspects of promotion, pay, supervision, working procedures and co-workers. This study is based on the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio (2004), to measure the transformational leadership style and the combination of two instruments of questionnaire to measure job satisfaction, which are Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) by Spector (1985) and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) by Weiss, Dais, England and Lofquist (1967). Quantitative analysis is done using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 24.0 towards 50 academic teachers in the Form Six centres. The findings show that transformational leadership style in particular has a significant relationship towards job satisfaction among the academic teachers in the Form Six Centres. Abstrak Guru yang tidak dapat mengalami kepuasan kerja akan menyebabkan mereka hilang keseronokan dan kegembiraan untuk meneruskan sesuatu pekerjaan yang antara lain akan menyebabkan berlakunya penurunan motivasi, prestasi, komitmen, dan berniat untuk berhenti kerja. Perkara ini akan memberi kesan negatif jangka panjang kepada organisasi seperti kemunculan pesaing-pesaing baharu dan sedia ada. Oleh itu, pengamalan gaya kepemimpinan transformasi adalah perlu diterapkan untuk meningkatkan tahap kepuasan kerja guru demi mencapai matlamat organisasi. Kajian terkini yang telah dilakukan mendapati gaya kepemimpinan transformasi yang terdiri daripada empat dimensi iaitu pengaruh karismatik, menginspirasikan motivasi, merangsang intelektual dan pertimbangan individu, mempunyai potensi untuk mempengaruhi kepuasan kerja guru. Kajian ini akan mengkaji hubungan pengamalan gaya kepemimpinan transformasi pengetua terhadap kepuasan kerja guru. Terdapat lima faktor kepuasan kerja guru dalam kajian ini iaitu peluang kenaikan pangkat, gaji, penyeliaan, prosedur kerja, dan rakan sekerja. Kajian tinjauan ini berdasarkan soal selidik ‘Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire’ (MLQ), untuk mengukur gaya kepemimpinan transformasi, dan gabungan dua instrumen soal selidik untuk mengukur kepuasan kerja iaitu ‘Job Satisfaction Survey’ (JSS), dan ‘Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire’ (MSQ). Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menggunakan perisian IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0, terhadap 50 orang guru akademik di Pusat-pusat Tingkatan Enam. Dapatan yang diperolehi menunjukkan tahap pengamalan gaya kepemimpinan transformasi pengetua mengikut persepsi guru akademik adalah tinggi secara keseluruhannya. Manakala dimensi rakan sekerja mencatatkan faktor kepuasan kerja yang tertinggi. Analisis korelasi gaya kepemimpinan transformasi didapati mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan kepuasan kerja guru akademik di Pusat-pusat Tingkatan Enam.
