Teacher Characteristics and Teacher Role

Abstract

Teachers are among the major factors that contribute to school success and students' learning. Efficient teachers should possess certain characteristics and should play a number of roles. Teachers' characteristics are either managerial or instructional. Teachers' roles are the duties, functions, and responsibilities that teachers assume in the teaching‐learning process. Both teachers' characteristics and roles complement each other as essential elements that contribute to the creation of an environment that is conducive to learning.
