“…Eight MYB-and two NAC-encoding transcripts were included in our DEGs, and three MYB-and one NAC-encoding DEGs were up-regulated more than 13-fold in TZ compared to SW-1 (Figure 9; Table S6). MYB transcription factors are often involved in secondary metabolism pathway regulation [37,38], and both transcription factor families are closely related to secondary cell wall biosynthesis and PCD [39,40]. However, the BlastX-searching results of these highly expressed MYB-or NAC-encoding DEGs in TZ did not reveal further specific functions related to wood formation associated TFs (Tables S5 and S6).…”

“…Based on the results obtained from our analysis we have classified MYB TFs into four categories each containing 2, 22, 92 and 163 members respectively (Figure 16). Recent study based on MYB TFs of Taiwania cryptomerioides has revealed that TcMYB1, TcMYB4, and TcMYB8 positively regulate lignan biosynthesis by activating the gene expressions of TcPLR3 and TcPLR1 respectively (Chiang et al, 2019). Results obtained from our phylogenetic analysis have showed 4 K. heteroclita MYBs KhMYB118, KhMYB37, KhMYB203 and KhMYB36 share the same clade S6 with TcMYB1, while KhMYB249, KhMYB167, KhMYB199, KhMYB4 and KhMYB145 are in the same S7 clade with TcMYB4 and TcMYB8 (Figure 16).…”

“…For example, the substrates for LuPLR1 and TpPLR1 proteins are (-)pinoresinol and (-)-lariciresinol which leads to the product (+)-secoisolariciresinol (Fujita et al, 1999;von Heimendahl et al, 2005). Similarly, the substrates for LuPLR2, TcPLR2.2, TcPLR3, TpPLR2 and PpPLR proteins are (+)-pinoresinol, (+)-lariciresinol but the product is (-)-secoisolariciresinol respectively (Fujita et al, 1999;Hemmati et al, 2010;Chiang et al, 2019). It is still unknown that whether these two steps are catalyzed by one PLR or two different PLRs.…”

“…In addition, MYB, bHLH and ERF transcription factors play important regulatory roles in the lignan biosynthetic pathway. For example, TcMYB1, TcMYB4, and TcMYB8 are involved in the positive regulation of lignan biosynthesis in Taiwania cryptomerioides Hayata [ 46 ]. Among them, TcMYB1, TcMYB4, and TcMYB8 are associated with four MYBs (AtMYB20, AtMYB42, AtMYB43, and AtMYB85), two MYBs (AtMYB46 and AtMYB83), and two MYBs (AtMYB61 and AtMYB50) of Arabidopsis Thaliana clustered together in the same branch [ 46 ].…”
