One of the main obstacles in software development projects is requirement volatility (RV), which is defined as uncertainty or changes in software requirements during the development process. Therefore, this research tries to understand the underlying factors behind the RV and the best practices to reduce it. The methodology used for this research is based upon qualitative research using interviews with 12 participants with experience in agile software development projects. The participants hailed from Austria, Nigeria, the USA, the Philippines, Armenia, Sri Lanka, Germany, Egypt, Canada, and Turkey and held roles such as project managers, software developers, Scrum Masters, testers, business analysts, and product owners. Our findings based on our empirical data revealed six primary factors that cause RV and three main agile practices that help to mitigate it. Theoretically, this study contributes to the body of knowledge relating to RV management. Practically, this research is expected to aid software development teams in comprehending the reasons behind RV and the best practices to effectively minimize it.

While much has been written on the dire need for workers who understand both the IT and OT core concepts necessary to protect the cyber-physical systems of critical infrastructure, practical and specific recommendations for how to meet this need through education and workforce training are lacking. Many of the available programs for teaching cybersecurity of physical systems rely on virtual simulations and students may not encounter relevant physical equipment until they are in the workplace. RADICL’s Cyber-physical Shooting Gallery is a critical missing piece toward a comprehensive system to develop the competent workforce the nation needs. Through a series of cyber-physical capture-the-flag challenges that integrate the Purdue ICS Model with the MITRE ATT&CK framework, the Cyber-physical Shooting Gallery provides an accessible educational model for cyber-physical security education and training.

As the research of HCPS in EI is ongoing, an increasing number of problems should be addressed, such as the leading role or aid function definition of humans, the coordination of humans with cyber and physical equipment, the state awareness of information handling, etc. Therefore, an increasing number of advanced techniques should be considered and adopted, such as IOT, AI and big data, etc., the main target of which is to improve the timely, digitalized, informationized and intelligent characters of the related tasks. This paper first introduces the applications of CPS in every industry, especially in the power grid and EI (Energy Internet), the introduction of which can be classified as a framework design, support technologies and algorithms, system function, power ancillary service, Energy Internet realization, etc. Then, this paper summarizes the related technologies of Human-Cyber-Physical Systems, which mainly include the areas of system design, theoretical analysis, technique development and application forecasting, which emphasizes its applications in EI. For the development of HCPS, it uses the human-in-the-loop concept and digital transformation as the future research and development directions, the performance of which can be largely promoted through these means. With the aid of HCPS, the optimal system performance of EI can be achieved more robustly, which finally evolves into an integrated and comprehensive modern power grid.
