Abstract: BACKGROUND: Prostaglandin E2 acts through 4 G-protein-coupled receptors (EP1–EP4). We previously reported that activation of the EP3 receptor reduces cardiac contractility, and its expression increases after a myocardial infarction (MI), mediating the reduction in cardiac function.
