Tanshinone IIA combined with CsA inhibit myocardial cell apoptosis induced by renal ischemia-reperfusion injury in obese rats

Abstract: Background Acute myocardial injury (AMI), which is induced by renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR), is a significant cause of acute kidney injury (AKI)-related associated death. Obesity increases the severity and frequency of AMI and AKI. Tanshinone IIA (TIIA) combined with cyclosporine A (CsA) pretreatment was used to alleviate myocardial cell apoptosis induced by renal IR, and to determine whether TIIA combined with CsA would attenuate myocardial cell apoptosis by modulating mitochondrial function… Show more

“…Mitochondrial dysfunction often associates with granulosa cell injury in POF mice [38]. The disruption of mitochondrial pathways (NF-jB/p53/PUMA and PI3K/Akt/Bad) can cause mitochondrial dysfunction [18,39,40]. In this study, CTX caused mitochondrial swelling and membrane rupturing, and increased the number of damaged mitochondria, whereas JPYS had a protective effect in vivo and vitro (Figures 4A, 9A).…”

“…AKI cases that were detected at the time of admission to PCI (T1 time) could be attributed to the effect of ischemia secondary to the coronary obstruction that resulted in AMI. In line with this attribution, recent experimental studies detected reduced renal blood flow by about 40% with cardiac ischemia [ 27 ].…”

“…Granulosa cell injury is generally associated with mitochondrial dysfunction in PCOS (50). Mitochondrial apoptotic signaling pathways (NF-jB/p53/PUMA and PI3K/Akt/Bad) play an essential role in organ injury, which in turn can induce mitochondrial dysfunction (51)(52)(53). In this study, PCOS was associated with morphological changes in mitochondria (swelling or membrane rupture) and increase in the percentage of damaged mitochondria, but CFDT decoction was able to protect the mitochondria.…”
