Abstract:The Hock cleavage is an acid-catalyzed oxydative reaction involving allylic or benzylic hydroperoxides. Since it generates an electrophilic oxocarbenium species, it could be used in tandem processes in the presence of nucleophiles. Here, starting from benzyl(prenyl)malonate substrates, the prenyl moiety was first photooxygenated. The resulting hydroperoxide was directly engaged in a Hock cleavage by adding a Lewis acid in presence of an aromatic nucleophile to promote tandem Friedel-Crafts reactions, also invo… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
