The lower response rate in patients with primary tumours, irrespective of dose, is probably a function of the size of the lesion (5cm by definition of "inoperable"), making the criterion for partial response (more than 50% decrease in the product of perpendicular diameters) more difficult to achieve because of the increased tumour burden.…”
