Tailoring the GnRH antagonist cetrorelix acetate to individual patients' needs in ovarian stimulation for IVF: results of a prospective, randomized study

“…The number of oocytes retrieved was largest in the two groups of flexible protocol and the quantity of FSH used was lower in the protocol of flexible multiple dose. The results reinforce the hypothesis that the individual adjustment of GnRH antagonist medication optimizes the ovarian stimulation with a greater number of oocytes retrieved with lowering the need of FSH without increasing the need for monitoring [14].…”

“…[5][6][7][8][9][10][11] The purpose of our randomised, open-label, prospective study was to compare the endocrine and clinical effects of GnRHant (flexible dose) with GnRHa (long-protocol) cycles after oral contraceptive (OC) pretreatment for IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in normoresponder patients.…”

“…Of particular interest is the influence of LH levels on follicular development and on pregnancy rates (2,3). Several studies have indirectly addressed this question by comparing fixed versus flexible GnRH-antagonist protocols (4)(5)(6). In studies to date, the GnRH antagonist is started later on average in flexible protocols, and a trend toward decreased pregnancy rates with the flexible protocol has been noted (4,6,7).…”
