“…The TSS architecture is summarized in the following Figure 1. The description of the individual components of the architecture can be found in the previous reference works, in particular in [19], and is briefly outlined in the figure itself in the yellow boxes. The first COAST flight test campaign has been successfully carried out, from 28 th June to 01 st July 2021, over the Kunovice International Airport (ICAO code: LKKU), in the Czech Republic, and has been coordinated by the COAST project leader Honeywell International (Czech Republic).…”

“…• Flight Reconfiguration System (FRS) [2][3], an emergency flight path management system that is activated in case of pilot's incapacitation; it takes the control of the aircraft by means of an autopilot, computes an Emergency Flight Plan and leads to landing at a selected airport; • Tactical Separation System (TSS) [4] [5], an advanced self-separation system, based on ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance -Broadcast), to extend traffic situational awareness and to support the pilot's decision making, suggesting manoeuvres aimed to maintain required separation minima; • Advanced Weather Awareness System (AWAS) [6] [7][8], a system devoted to increase pilot's weather awareness providing updated data, generated on-ground and visualized on-board, regarding weather hazards (observed and forecast) occurring over the flight route. During the first years of the project, these three technologies were individually developed and successfully tested, at first in laboratory and then in flight during two demonstration campaigns held in 2021 and 2022, without any interaction between them.…”
