Tackling post-pandemic challenges with digital technologies: an empirical study

Abstract: PurposeThis study aims to examine the impact of Covid-19 on social and eco-environmental sustainability. It will also investigate the effect of advanced technologies in the post-pandemic era.Design/methodology/approachTo get the robust findings, GMM (Generalized Method of Moments) modeling is employed on the panel data of 50 countries across the globe.FindingsThe outcomes indicate that gross fixed capital, logistical operations, knowledge spillover are positive, while Covid-19 is negatively associated with int… Show more

“…However, behavioral changes are still difficult to simulate using energy-economy-environmental-engineering (E4) models. Some attempts have been made to bridge this gap by including behavioral characteristics in integrated energy and transportation models (Khan et al 2021e , f ; Venturini et al 2018 ).…”

“…This special section aims to compile innovative and novel research on modeling and solution approaches that integrate analytical models and solution methods to generate a fresh body of knowledge to assist supply chain managers in building supply chain resilience against COVID-19 outbreak as future disruptions. The approaches were built upon digital capabilities of Industry 4.0 as a main lever to underpin supply chains to quickly recover from the ongoing disruption and build more resilience in the future (Khan et al , 2021b). We challenged and encouraged our research community to modify, expand present theories and develop with rigor a new body of knowledge; knowledge that benefits from the global experience on COVID-19 experience and contributes to building more resilient supply chains through digital capabilities.…”
