Abstract: BackgroundAffective dysregulation and psychotic experiences or symptoms often co-occur in the general population as well as in bipolar and psychotic disorders, suggesting a complex interplay. Early trauma is hypothesised to be important for the aetiology of both, and individuals with early traumatic experiences often develop disorders characterised by an admixture of affective and psychotic symptoms.
