“…Previous studies suggested that mast cells were aberrantly regulated in RA synovium and were mainly activated by TLRs (toll-like receptors), PAMP (pathogen-associated molecular patterns), and FcγR (Fc gamma receptor) ( 28 , 29 ). Moreover, dendritic cells, NK cells, and regulatory T cells were demonstrated to play a significant role in the development of RA ( 30 , 31 ). Therefore, the present results are consistent with previous reports and highlights the importance of these cells in the pathogenesis of RA by bioinformatic analysis.…”

“…Our study observed that in RA patients with high levels of Th2, Th17, and Th17/Treg on the basis of the original treatment, exogenous TCZ and low dose of IL-2 can rapidly and safely reduce the DAS28 score and alleviate the disease in a short period, effectively promote the moderate proliferation of Tregs and reduce the level of Th cells, which is consistent with the previous results of TCZ combined with other DMARDs ( 42 ). Meanwhile, more female patients were recruited in this study, but relevant literature showed that gender did not affect the distribution ratio of peripheral blood immune cells and the therapeutic effect of tocilizumab, so it was believed that gender did not affect the judgment of results in this study ( 43 ).…”

“…Schwaneck et al. documented rising numbers of NK (CD56 + , CD3 − , CD14 − ) cells with age in RA patients in the peripheral blood and those with current TNF-inhibition therapy ( 40 ), which demonstrated the complex factors influencing the status of NK cells. Interestingly, we observed a moderate negative correlation of NK cells in peripheral blood with arthritis index score, which agreed with Lin et al., who showed that RA disease activity (DAS28) exhibited an inverse correlation with the percentages of CD56 + CD3 − NK cells ( 18 ).…”
