Systolic Nanofabrication of Super-Resolved Photonics and Biomimetics

Abstract: Systolic nanofabrication is demonstrated via conformal downsizing of three-dimensional micropatterned monolithic master-casts made of extremely nanoporous aerogel and xerogel materials. The porous solid skeleton collapses by thermal treatment, generating miniaturized replicas, which preserve the original stereometric forms and incorporate minified nanoscale patterns. Paradigmatic holographic and biomimetic nanoarchitectures are conformally downsized by ~4×, yielding subwavelength surface features of less than … Show more

“…A hypothesis of IM—years now—is that if a piece of the nanomaterial silica aerogel looks like a sky fragment [ 19 ], can we imagine other sky phenomena like halos or rainbows (Fig. 5 ) to appear into this artificial fragment of sky [ 20 ]? In these photos we will examine some attempts to experiment with sunlight over optical prisms in order to observe rainbows (Figs.…”

“…The concept of biomimetics was developed during the 1950s, taken from nature [ 110 ]. Although most of the applications were at the macromolecular level, a novel groundbreaking progresses in nanotechnology has shifted the researches to the nanoscale level [ 111 ]. The identification of novel techniques, such as atomic force microscopy (AFM) [ 112 ] and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) [ 113 ], has enabled scientists to investigate the nanostructures found in the nature.…”
