Systems with constant group delay and symmetric impulse response (CGDSIR)

Abstract: In this paper we describe a class of systems with constant group delay and symmetric impulse response. We extend the results of works made by Vucic and Babic[1] that introduced this kind of systems in 1998. The proposed approach uses a new finite error function and works in the frequency domain. The systems obtained with the optimization procedure have better pole-Q's and their group delay have a maximally flat behavior. We use a MATLAB optimization tool package for our purposes.
