ResumenColombia es un país con vocación de apertura económica. En la actualidad cuenta con tratados comerciales con los bloques económicos más poderosos del mundo y, por ende, su aparato productivo debe ser competitivo y eficiente. Un factor clave de competitividad empresarial es la innovación tecnológica, por lo que empresas, sectores económicos, Estado y sociedad implementan estrategias con el fin de lograr niveles adecuados de innovación y el máximo beneficio económico y social.El objetivo de esta investigación es establecer el nivel de innovación de las empresas manufactureras de Norte de Santander (Colombia). Para ello se utilizó metodología cuantitativa a través del Índice de Situación y Adecuación Tecnología (TASI2), que mide doce factores de desempeño organizacional.Los resultados señalan que las grandes y medianas empresas tienen un nivel de innovación tecnológica aceptable. Hay que destacar que tres indicadores están calificados como deficientes, mientras que los demás califican como aceptables o buenos. Las empresas pequeñas y microempresas muestran un nivel deficiente; solo dos de los indicadores califican como aceptables; los demás, como deficientes.Palabras clave: Innovación tecnológica, sector manufacturero, globalización, relaciones internacionales. AbstractAs a country, Colombia tends to economic opening; it currently has trade agreements with the most powerful economic blocs in the world and therefore its productive apparatus must be competitive and efficient. A key factor for business competitiveness is technological innovation, so companies, economic sectors, industries, State and society are implementing strategies to achieve adequate levels of innovation and maximum economic and social benefits.
