Systematic Review on the Creep of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete

Abstract: Fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) is increasingly used in structural applications owing to its benefits in terms of toughness, durability, ductility, construction cost and time. However, research on the creep behavior of FRC has not kept pace with other areas such as short-term properties. Therefore, this study aims to present a comprehensive and critical review of literature on the creep properties and behavior of FRC with recommendations for future research. A transparent literature search and filtering method… Show more

“…Under the unsealed condition, the compressive creep coefficient of 90 MPa concrete increases by approximately 3% owing to fiber addition. This can be attributed to the fact that the interfacial structure of concrete is weakened and the creep strain increases owing to the addition of fibers with a lower elastic modulus than that of concrete [ 32 , 33 ].…”

“…Fibers can effectively prevent crack opening and carry further tension stress via bridging effects [ 8 , 9 ]. SFRC also experiences much less creep and shrinkage than plain concrete, owing to the improved fine microstructure in combination with reduced micro-cracks when adding fibers [ 21 ]. All of these factors explain the effectiveness and potential of SFRC.…”

“…A scientometric technique using the software application may assist in solving this problem. Recently, several review studies have been performed on SFRC [ 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 ], but these are traditional reviews. This study intends to perform a scientometric examination of bibliometric data available on SFRC research up to June 2022.…”
