Background: The linkage between teaching and research—also labelled the Teaching Research Nexus (TRN)—is the object of a recurrent debate in higher education. The debate centres on the nature of the interrelation, TRN benefits and challenges, concrete TRN strategies, and its impact on students and academics. Methods: Based on a systematic search of papers published between 2012 and 2022, a systematic review of review studies was conducted, building on articles from the Web of Science and Scopus. Results: From an initial 151 records, 14 fit the review inclusion/exclusion criteria. Goal and review questions: To provide researchers, teachers, and policy decision-makers with an overview of TRN in higher education based on available peer-reviewed review studies, this systematic review was driven by the following guiding questions: What are the conceptual developments in TRN definitions? What are the outcomes of experimental TRN interventions? What are the implementation challenges of TRN in higher education? What TRN implementation strategies have been adopted? Finally, what do the reviews stress as future directions for TRN? Brief conclusion: The review results helped identify patterns in TRN studies, practices, and directions for future TRN research in higher education.

Bu çalışmanın amacı engelli bireye bakım veren ebeveynlerin kas-iskelet sistemi rahatsızlıklarının değerlendirilmesi ve çocuğun günlük yaşam aktivitelerinde bağımsızlık düzeyine göre ebeveynlerin kas iskelet sistemi rahatsızlıklarının incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya engelli bireye bakım veren 59 ebeveyn dahil edildi. Engelli bireyin tanısı, engel tipi, mobilite durumu, yemek yeme, giyinme, tuvalet aktivitelerindeki bağımsızlık durumu, engel süresi ile bakım veren ebeveynlerin gelir düzeyi, çocuk sayısı düzenli bakıcı desteği alıp almadığı sorgulandıktan sonra ebeveynlere Cornell Kas İskelet Rahatsızlık Anketi uygulandı. Bağımsız grupların Cornell Kas İskelet Rahatsızlık Anketi skorları Mann Whitney U testi kullanılarak karşılaştırıldı. Engelli bireylerin yaş ortalaması 9,55+6,04 yıl, engellilik süresi 7,66+5,54 yıl idi. Engelli bireylerde en fazla Serebral Palsi tanısı (%47,5) ve en fazla fiziksel engel mevcuttu (%49,2). Ebeveynlerin yaş ortalaması 38,22±7,85 yıl idi. Cornell Kas İskelet Rahatsızlık Anketi alt bölüm skorları incelendiğinde en yüksek skorun bel bölgesinde (15,94±24,59) olduğu görüldü. Cornell Kas İskelet Rahatsızlık Anketi toplam skoru ortalama 106,13±185,09 idi. Engelli bireylerin yürüyebilme, yemek yiyebilme, tuvalet ihtiyacını giderme, giyinme aktivitelerinde bağımsızlık durumuna göre bakım veren ebeveynlerin Cornell Kas İskelet Rahatsızlık Anketi skorları arasında anlamlı fark bulundu (p

Functional difficulty among young children in Bangladesh: An analysis of nationally representative data

Functional difficulty in children is a crucial public health problem still undervalued in developing countries. This study explored the socio-demographic factors and anthropometry associated with children’s functional difficulty in Bangladesh. Data for 2-4-year-old children, obtained from Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2019, were used in this study. The mixed-effects logistic regression model was used to analyse the data. Children whose mothers had functional difficulty were found to be 2.75 times more likely to have functional difficulty than children whose mothers had no functional difficulty (95% CI 1.63-4.63). Male children were more likely to experience functional difficulty than female children (OR = 1.48). Furthermore, stunting was found to be significantly associated with functional difficulty (OR = 1.50). The study also revealed that division and mother’s education, specifically, children with mothers having higher secondary + education, had significant association with the outcome variable. The findings provided a vital overview of child disability in a developing country.
