Systematic review of co-design in digital health for COVID-19 research

Abstract: Improving the quality of digital health care through information and communication technology can mainly contribute to the clinical, social, financial, and economic systems’ success, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The co-design approach, which unleashes the end-user power, can contribute actively in improving the healthcare systems. It deals with understanding the user behaviors, requirements, and motivations through observation, inspection, task analysis, and feedback techniques. Consequently… Show more

“… 81 Previous research recommends specific design characteristics such as arranging content by order of sequence 82 or perceived importance 83 ; using meaningful, illustrative media 84 85 and applying specific typographic features 73 such as serif font type 86 87 ; large font sizes 88 and specific colour schemes to maximise contrast between words and background. 86 Emerging research also recommends codesign of digital interventions to identify user-specific features, 89–91 reduce consumers’ anxiety 92 and enhance confidence in digital systems. 93 94 In the context of DHIs, codesign may be enhanced by user-testing workshops with think-aloud interviews followed by periods of independent use with retrospective semistructured interviews and iterative changes.…”

“…To ensure that the field can keep up with the advances of the surrounding world -especially those that are related to technology -it needs to renew itself from time to time. In this, practice-oriented co-creation and constant dialogue between the health service providers, endusers, and innovators from within and without the field, is of the essence [1].…”
