To summarize the data of previously reported medical imaging features on human malignancies to provide a scientific basis for more credible imaging feature selection for future studies. Materials and Methods: A search was performed in PubMed from database inception through March 23, 2018, for studies clearly stating the decoding of medical imaging features for malignancy-related objectives and/or hypotheses. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used for quality assessment of the included studies. Unsupervised hierarchical clustering was performed on the manually extracted features from each included study to identify the application rules of medical imaging features across human malignancies. CT images of 1000 retrospective patients with non-small cell lung cancer were used to reveal a pattern for the value distribution of complex texture features. Results: A total of 5026 imaging features of malignancies affecting 20 parts of the human body from 930 original articles were collated and assessed in this study. A meta-feature construct was proposed to facilitate the investigation of details of any high-dimensional complex imaging features of malignancy. A correlation atlas was constructed to clarify the general rules of applying medical imaging features to the analysis of human malignancy. Assessment of this data revealed a pattern of value distributions of the most commonly reported texture features across human malignancies. Furthermore, the significant expression of the gene mutational signature 1B across human cancer was highly consistent with the presence of the run length imaging feature across different human malignancy types. Conclusion: The results of this study may facilitate more credible imaging feature selection in all oncology tasks across a wide spectrum of human malignancies and help to reduce bias and redundancies in future medical imaging studies. Is weight regain after bariatric surgery associated with psychiatric comorbidity? A systematic review and meta‐analysis

Summary Bariatric surgery has been recognized as the gold standard treatment for severe obesity. Although postbariatric surgery patients usually achieve and maintain substantial weight loss, a group of individuals may exhibit weight regain. Several factors are proposed to weight regain, including psychiatric comorbidity. The objective of the study is to conduct a systematic review and meta‐analysis of studies investigating the relationship between psychiatric comorbidity and weight regain. A systematic review through PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, and PsycINFO was performed, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA). After a stepwise selection, 13 articles were included in the qualitative analysis and 5 were included for a meta‐analysis. Women was majority in most of the studies (87.6%), and a bypass procedure was the bariatric intervention most evaluated (66.8%), followed by gastric banding (32.1%) and sleeve (1.1%). Higher rates of postbariatric surgery eating psychopathology were reported in patients with weight regain. However, the association between general psychopathology and weight regain was not consistent across the studies. In the meta‐analysis, the odds of eating psychopathology in the weight regain group was higher compared with the nonweight regain group (OR = 2.2, 95% CI 1.54‐3.15). Postbariatric surgery eating psychopathology seems to play an important role in weight regain.

IntroductionAfrica harbours a high burden of pneumococcal disease, with associated high mortality rates. Despite 34 countries introducing the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, which reduces the risk of pneumococcal carriage (a prerequisite for disease) of some of the most pathogenic pneumococcal serotypes, it remains uncertain whether they will achieve the sustained direct or indirect protection necessary to reduce pneumococcal carriage to levels sufficient to interrupt transmission and disease. We will therefore summarise the available data on the impact of the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in reducing vaccine serotype carriage and pneumococcal pneumonia in Africa between 2000 and 2019.Methods and analysisUsing a predetermined search strategy, we will conduct a comprehensive search of PubMed, MEDLINE database, the Excerpta Medica Database, the ISI Web of Science (Science Citation Index), Scopus and the African Index Medicus to identify published studies reporting the prevalence of Streptococcus pneumoniae carriage (vaccine type and non-vaccine type), incidence rates of pneumococcal pneumonia and mortality among children, adults and HIV-infected (all-ages) pre-pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) and post-PCV introduction (published between 1st January 2000 and 31st December 2019) in African countries that have introduced PCVs (PCV7/PCV10/PCV13) in their routine national immunisation programme. The studies retained and data extracted will be assessed for bias using prevalidated tools and checklists. Heterogeneity across studies will be assessed using the χ2 test on Cochrane Q statistic. A random effect meta-analysis will be used to estimate the overall prevalence of pneumococcal carriage and incidence of pneumococcal pneumonia across studies with similar characteristics. Results will be reported in compliance with the Meta-Analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology guidelines. The protocol has been prepared in accordance to the 2015 guidelines on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses.Ethics and disseminationThis systematic review will not require ethical approval as we will be using already published data. The final manuscript will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at conferences.PROSPERO registration numberCRD42019130976.
