Systematic behavior in the isospin dependence of projectile fragmentation of mirror nuclei withA= 20–60

Abstract: The cross sections of the fragments that are produced by the 80 A MeV |Tz| = 2 mirror nuclei 20Mg/20O, 24Si/24Ni, 36Ca/36S, 40Ti/40Ar, 44Ca/44Cr and 60Ni/60Ge colliding on the 12C target are calculated using the statistical abrasion–ablation model. The isospin dependence of the projectile fragmentation (or the isospin effect) in the fragment cross section distributions of the A = 20–60 mirror projectile nuclei is studied systematically. The isospin effect in the fragment cross section distributions is found to… Show more

“…The SAA model can well reproduce the yield of fragments [49] and was used to study the isospin phenomena in HICs [55][56][57][58]. In brief, in the SAA model, the prefragment is calculated after the numbers of abraded protons and neutrons are known, which are determined by the nuclear-density distribution in the overlapping zone of projectile and target, and the nucleon-nucleon reaction cross section.…”

“…The sudden change of the cross sections of large-A fragments in the central collisions has also been observed in previous works, which is explained as one phenomena of skin effects. [15,[41][42][43]. The fragment distributions in the 140A MeV 64 Ni + 9 Be reaction are plotted in Fig.…”

“…T he yield o f fragm ents depends on the isospin o f the reaction system , but the dependence decreases and even can disappear in fragm ents that have a sm all m ass num ber [15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. The probes based on the fragm ent yield m ay depend on the asym m etry (N /Z ) o f the reaction system , such as the isoscaling param eters.…”
