System resilience enhancement: Smart grid and beyond

Abstract: Boosting the resilience of power systems is a core requirement of smart grids. In fact, resilience enhancement is crucial to all critical infrastructure systems. In this study, we review the current research on system resilience enhancement within and beyond smart grids. In addition, we elaborate on resilience definition and resilience quantification and discuss several challenges and opportunities for system resilience enhancement. This study aims to deepen our understanding of the concept of resilience and d… Show more

“…The multiobjective evolutionary algorithm, MO‐PSDA, was implemented to deal with the complexity of the proposed problem. The obtained solutions can help in identifying a network's vulnerability and guide the decision maker to conduct further optimization of critical infrastructures, such as reliability redundancy allocation and inspection, while considering the possibility of overloading and its influence.…”

“…The stages of planning, preparation, absorption and resistance represents that the system adapts to the requirements of the new situation, and the recovery stage returns the system to normal operation. In other words, the resilience is the system's ability to adapt to various large disturbances and recover to the state in that the system was before their impact [5].…”
