Syphilitic Outer Retinopathy: A Masquerading Diagnosis Revealed After Steroid-Induced Progression to Panuveitis

Abstract: Syphilitic outer retinopathy is an uncommon manifestation of neurosyphilis that presents a diagnostic challenge due to minimal examination findings and the absence of intraocular inflammation, mimicking autoimmune retinopathies. However, the recognition of this entity is critical because outer retinal disruption and symptoms can be reversed with appropriate antibiotic treatment.
