Synthetic Corticotropin Therapy Reduces Microglial Activation in a Rodent TBI Model

Abstract: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of mortality/morbidity and is associated with chronic neuroinflammation. Melanocortin receptor (MCR) agonists (e.g., ACTH or adrenocorticotropic hormone) that target MC3R/4R ameliorate inflammation and provide a novel therapeutic approach.
