Synthesis, Structure and Reactivity of Stable Homoleptic Gold(I) Alkene Cations

Abstract: The rate of absorption of hydrogen, argon, and xenon into a Type II propane clathrate hydrate has been studied. The propane hydrate is synthesized from 250‐μm ice grains, is estimated to have a porosity of 65% and has roughly the consistency of chalk. Hydrogen is rapidly absorbed by the hydrate sample and approaches the equilibrium vapor pressure in an hour before a very slow residual absorption process ensues. For an initial hydrogen pressure of 1.5 MPa, about 4.5% of the available 512 cages are occupied by h… Show more

“…18 The alkynylselenolatoalkylidynes 2a-2i were prepared as reported previously. 2a The complexes [AuCl(THT)], 21 [AuCl(SMe2)] 22 and [AuCl(PPh3)] 23 were prepared according to literature methods. [AuCl(PCy3)] was prepared by the reaction of an equimolar amount of [AuCl(THT)] and PCy3.…”

“…[76] The same holds true for gold analogues 4 a-d, in which the Au I ÀC distances d are very similar to those found in alkene-gold(I) complexes. [54,55,77,78] Conclusion Gold(I) interacts weakly with the covering arene ring in complexes with dialkylbiphenylphosphane ligands. Thus, in 6 a the gold-arene distance (3.04 ) is longer than the maximum estimated for a meaningful metal-arene interaction (2.95 ).…”
