Synthesis, structure and photoluminescence of a 3D pillared heterometallic coordination polymer containing 2D inorganic cadmium‐potassium‐oxide layer subunits

Abstract: Self-assembly of Cd(NO 3 ) 2 with o-phthalic acid monopotassium salt (KHphth) in the presence of ethylenediamine (en) produced a new heterometallic coordination polymer [CdK 2 (phth) 2 (en) 0.5 (H 2 O)] n (1). Single-crystal X-ray analyses reveal that it crystallizes in a monoclinic space group P2 1 /c. a = 11.6707(6) Å, b = 8.1019(4) Å, c = 20.9503(11) Å, β = 94.6640 (10) o . The complex displays an en-pillared 3D framework, which is constructed from 2D [CdK 2 (phth) 2 (H 2 O)] n layers featuring uncommon ino… Show more

“…The K–O distances vary from 2.672(6) to 3.079(6) Å. The bond dimensions involving potassium are normal and are comparable to those in related potassium(I) complexes 28. The Cd1 atom is seven‐coordinate by four carboxylate oxygen atoms (O5, O2F, and O4H) from three SBTC 4– ligands, one sulfonate oxygen atom (O7H) from the fourth SBTC 4– ligand and two coordinated water molecules (O11 and O12).…”
