Synthesis, Structural Characterization, and Catalytic Property of A Zn(II) Complex with 5-Bromosalicylaldehyde Ligand

Abstract: The study on catalytic activity of complex materials has been one of the hot spots in coordination chemistry. In order to extensively study the catalytic activity of complexes, a new six-coordination Zn(II) complex material, [ZnL2(H2O)2] (C1) (HL = 5-bromosalicylaldehyde), has been prepared with 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, NaOH, and Zn(CH3COO)2·2H2O as raw materials. The structure of C1 was determined by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The Zn(II) complex shows a moderate catal… Show more

“…Zn(II) complexes have been widely studied by chemists during the past decades. Because they display many potential applications in chemosensor [1], antibacterial activity [2,3], magnetic property [4,5], luminescence [6][7][8][9], nonlinear optical property [10], anticancer activity [11][12][13], electrochemical property [14,15], and catalytic activity such as oxidation of benzyl alcohol [16], chemical fixation of CO2 into cyclic carbonates [17], cyanosilylation of aldehydes [18], decomposition reaction of H2O2 [19], A3 coupling reaction [20], cyanosilylation reaction [21]. Some transition metal complexes of homophthalic acid-based ligand have been synthesized and exhibited excellent properties such as magnetic property and fluorescence property [22], photocatalytic degradation [23], and catalytic oxidation [24].…”

“…So, the development of environmentally friendly catalysts is very attractive. Our group has been working on the synthesis and catalytic properties of cheap and environmentally friendly catalysts [23][24][25][26][27]. In this paper, we reported a new Ca(II) coordination polymer, [Ca(L) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n , and its application in aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol as catalyst.…”
