Synthesis, physico-chemical investigations and biological studies on Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes with p -amino acetophenone isonicotinoyl hydrazone

Abstract: Complexes of the type [M(painh)(H 2 O) 2 X], where M ¼ Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II); X ¼ Cl 2 or SO 4 ; painh ¼ p-amino acetophenone isonicotinoyl hydrazone, have been synthesized and characterized by spectral and other physico-chemical techniques. The synthesized complexes are stable powders, insoluble in common organic solvents such as ethanol, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and diethyl ether, and are non-electrolytes. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Thermal Analysis… Show more

“…The metal complexes were prepared by mixing a hot ethanolic solution of the required metal acetate: Cu(CH 3 COO) 2 presence of 2 mL of triethylamine (TEA). The reaction mixture was then refluxed for a time depending on the metal salt used (2-4 h).…”

“…A survey of literature reveals that although work on metal complexes of monohydrazide-based ligands and their Schiff bases has been carried out in some detail [18][19][20][21], those on metal complexes of dihydrazones are quite meager [16,17,[22][23][24][25][26][27]. It further reveals that work on heterobimetallic complexes of dihydrazones is virtually absent [26,27].…”

“…but moderate antibacterial activity against E. coli and Clostridium sp. Furthermore, the complexes of p-aminoacetophenone isonicotinoyl hydrazone [38] showed fair antifungal activity against Rizoctonia sp., Aspergillus sp., Stemphylium sp., and Penicillium sp. and appreciable antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas sp.…”
