Synthesis of TiO2 using different hydrolysis catalysts and doped with Zn for efficient degradation of aqueous phase pollutants under UV light

Abstract: In this work, various TiO 2 and TiO 2 doped with 0.1, 1.0, and 5.0 mol% of Zn were prepared by the sol-gel method varying different hydrolysis catalysts (HNO 3 , OHAc, H 3 PO 4 ) in order to be used as photocatalysts for environmental applications. The X-ray diffraction results showed that the different TiO 2 samples have presented the anatase as main phase, However, the acid nature has played an important role in the superficial and optical properties. The N-physisortion analysis has revealed that the specifi… Show more

“…This inhibition effect was already observed in our previous work [25]. And some other groups also reported a similar result using a traditional calcination doping process [22,26]. Besides the crystallinity inhibition effect, it is important to note that diffraction peak shift is identified in TiO 2 -400 and TiO 2 -Ni-400 patterns.…”

“…Similar inhibition effects on the TiO 2 phase transition have been reported by other groups doping with various ions and methods. 35,36 On the basis of the BET and XRD tests, we can conclude that Mn ions doping process improved the structure stability and inhibited the crystallization of the TiO 2 nanosheet-based structure.…”
