Synthesis of steroidal extranucleo 1,3,4‐oxadiazoles

Abstract: Cholest‐5en‐3β‐ol 1, 3,3‐ethylenedioxy‐androst‐4‐en‐17β‐ol 2 and 17,17‐ethylenedioxy‐1,3,5(10)‐estratrien‐3β‐ol 3 were converted into ethyl ester 1a, 2a and 3a by reaction with ethyl chloroacetate in the presence of potassium. The ethyl esters 1a, 2a and 3a on reaction with hydrazine gave hydrazides 1b, 2b and 3b, which on reaction with cyanogen bromide afforded 1,3,4‐oxadiazoles 1c, 2c and 3c.

“…We calculated a risk ratio (RR) for the outcome for each trial, defined as (number of smokers in the intervention group who were nonsmokers at baseline/ total number of baseline nonsmokers randomized to the intervention group) / (number of smokers in the control group who were baseline nonsmokers/ total number of baseline nonsmokers randomized to the control group). Adjusted RRs from cluster-randomized trials using schools as the unit of analysis were obtained by adjusting the original (non-adjusted) RRs using an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of 0.097 (ICC for current smoking status averaged among all ethnicities) as reported by Siddiqui et al (Siddiqui 1996). An RR less than 1 favoured the intervention, indicating that more participants abstained from smoking in the intervention group compared to the control group.…”

“…Reaction of cholesterol with ethyl diazoacetate as described previously for 7 and 10 gave ester 14 (58% yield). This compound has formerly been synthesized in the literature by using ethyl chloroacetate and benzene in the presence of potassium . Ester 14 was reduced by lithium aluminium deuteride (80% yield), and the chain elongation on alcohol 15 was realized using di(chloroethyl)ether under phase transfer conditions .…”

“…As an emerging class of inorganic‐organic hybrid materials, metal coordination complexes (MCCs) have gained growing attention owing to their potential applications, including catalysis, sensing, magnetism, optics, as well as gas storage and separation . The unique combinations of organic/inorganic building blocks make these materials generate diverse functions . MCCs‐based applications have gained extensively impacts in materials science and catalysis areas, which are involved in the fields of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and environment science .…”

[64][65][66][67] MCCs-based applications have gained extensively impacts in materials science and catalysis areas, which are involved in the fields of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and environment science. [68][69][70][71][72][73][74] Indeed, Yaghi has recently explored a kind of cobaltbased porphyrin catalyst for reduction of CO 2 to CO under electronchemical conditions.…”
