Synthesis of stable cesium superoxide nanoparticles for gas sensing application by solution-processed spray pyrolysis method

Abstract: In the present work, we synthesized cesium superoxide (CsO 2 ) nanoparticles by solution-processed spray pyrolysis technique. The as-synthesized CsO 2 nanoparticles were characterized through Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The CsO 2 nanoparticle-based gas sensor is more selective towards the carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) gas. The sensor shows good gas sensing performance for CO 2 gas. Gas sensing mechanism is dominated by the adsorption and de… Show more

“…Liquid gallium has been widely used for higher resolution images of human organs in X-ray scans, in phase change memory devices and in SERS applications [23][24][25]. Cesium is known to be immensely used in gas sensing applications, in optical glass and as catalyst promoter etc [26]. The cesium clock is used in Global Positioning System for quantum measurements to maintain accuracy [27].…”

“…Diverse methods are executed to synthesize metallic nanoparticles, such as chemical, [1] sonochemical, [2] photochemical [3] and spray pyrolysis. [4] Attributed to the ease of use, simple equipment and prudence, the chemical reduction method has been widely applied. Currently, industrial processes for the synthesizing nanoparticles include laser ablation, hydrothermal, colloidal and solvothermal processes that use high pressures, temperatures and toxic chemicals.…”
