Synthesis of spherical Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1(OH)2 precursor via hydrothermal method assisted by microfluidics

Abstract: Nickel-rich materials have been considered as promising cathode candidates for Li-ion batteries. In this work, the spherical Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1(OH)2 precursor with good crystalline is synthesized via a hydrothermal method assisted with microfluidics. The effects of (NH4)2CO3 aqueous solution addition ratio and hydrothermal time on the formation of precursors are investigated comprehensively. The as-obtained precursors after optimization (hydrothermal time of 24 h and the concentration of the (NH4)2CO3 is 0.3 mol/… Show more

“…(Kim, Park et al 2019) Commonly, Li[NixCoyMn1−x−y]O2 is prepared from either [NixCoyMn1−x−y](OH)2 or [NixCoyMn1−x−y](CO3) precursors. (Liu, Tan et al 2019) Not only the electrochemical performance but also phase purity, the crystallinity, particle morphology, textural properties, and cation distribution of Li[NixCoyMn1−x−y]O2 material extremely depends on the synthesis procedure of precursor. The conventional synthesis methods such as co-precipitation (Hou, Zhang et al 2017), solid-state (Wang, Yin et al 2017), sol-gel synthesis, (Zhu, Yang et al 2019) etc., were usually applied in the synthesis of Ni-Mn-Co based materials.…”
