Synthesis of Some New Bis[1-(2-aroyl-3-aryl)cyclopropylcarbonyl]benzenes and Pyridines under Phase Transfer Catalysis (PTC) Method

Abstract: Some new bis[1-(2-aroyl-3-aryl)cyclopropylcarbonyl]benzenes and pyridines IV - VI have been prepared by the cycloaddition of dimethylsulfonium phenacylide to 1,1'-(1,3-, 1,4-phenylene, and 2,6-pyridylene)-bis(3-aryl-2-propen-1-ones) I - III by adopting two different methods. The advantages of the PTC method over the other have been discussed. The structures of the compound have been confirmed by spectral data.

“…Obviously the competition between the two ethylenic bonds favors the formation of 2 rather than 2A. The 1 H NMR spectra of 2 indicated an AMX splitting pattern for methine and methylene protons of the pyrazoline ring [5,6] (Table 2). The coupling constants of ethylenic protons (J CD = 14.13-14.24 Hz) indicated their trans geometry.…”

“…Pyrazolines have played a crucial role in the development of heterocyclic chemistry, and they were also extensively used as key synthones in organic synthesis. [22][23][24][25] They have been found to possess considerable biological activities such as antiinflammatory, 26 antibacterial, 27 antiviral, 28 antimalarial, 29 antidepressant, 30 antitubercular, 31 anticonvulsant, 32,33 antitumor, 34 and antioxidant. 35 A significant number of pyrazoline derivatives have been approved by the FDA as chemotherapeutic drugs.…”
