Synthesis of Sodalite Zeolite to Treatment of Textile Effluents

Abstract: Textile dye industry causes environmental impacts due to inappropriate disposal of effluents. Several processes have been studied to effective treatment in the dye removal, one of the main molecular sieves (zeolites). The zeolite material, especially sodalite, has the ability to adsorb the metals and functional chromophore groups. Therefore, the sodalite has characteristics that have attention to the scientific community for the treatment of textile effluents. The aim of this work was to synthesize and evaluat… Show more

“…In this process, sodalite acts as an ionic adsorbent agent capable of removing toxic heavy metal cations and ions from textile industry effluents. 2 The removal of heavy metals using the sodalite zeolite, with metakaolin as precursor, is considered a multi-stage reaction containing liquid phase dissolution and crystallization processes and solid phases. 53 The alkaline transformation that occurs with metakaolin in molecular sieves provides an alternative solution for the sustainability of the use of mineral clay for water decontamination.…”

“…1 With the growing success of the textile industry across the world, industries have started investing more in dyes with specific properties. 2 Currently there are more than eight thousand synthetic dyes, associated with the textile market. 3,4 It has been noted that approximately 15% of the world's overall production of dyes is lost to the environment during their synthesis, processing or application in various industrial operations.…”

“…Fourteen tetrahedrons combine to form a sub-unit (called the Pentasil Unit) with eight pentagonal faces. [34][35][36][37] The pentagonal sub-units exhibit linear bonding which results in the formation of chains stretched along the z-axis. 38 The properties of ZSM-5 depend on the crystalline structure, uniform size and acidity of the channels.…”
