Synthesis of Silver Nano-particles by Electrochemical Method and the Effects on the Serum Levels of Thyroid Hormones (T3, T4) in Adult Male Rats

Abstract: Background: Silver nano-particles have anti-fungal properties. In the present study, silver nano-particles were synthesized by electrochemical method and its effects on the serum levels ofT3 and T4 hormones were investigated in adult male rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 28 adult male Wistar rats weighing approximately 180-220g were divided into 4 groups of 7 rats. The control group (no treatment). The experimental groups 1and 2 received silver intraperitoneal nano-particle doses of 25 and 100 mg/kg… Show more

“…Our results suggest that oxidative stress may contribute to liver damage induced by exposure to noise and Silver-NPs, leading to the release of liver enzymes AST, ALT, and ALP into the serum as indicators of liver function. Similarly, previous studies have reported that Silver-NPs increased the levels of liver enzymes ALP, ALT, and AST in serum, indicating toxic effects on the liver (Ali et al, 2023;Parang and Moghadamnia, 2018). Furthermore, our findings showed significant changes in lipid peroxidation, CAT, and GPx levels in animals exposed to noise and Silver-NPs, while no significant changes were observed in animals receiving a dose of Silver-NPs or noise alone.…”

“…Nanotechnology is one of the most powerful and promising techniques of the 21st century ( Joy, 2020 ). Chemically synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are responsible for the lower level of testosterone in male rats ( Parang & Moghadamnia, 2018 ). Recently, the green synthesis of nanomaterials are more points of interest by using biological organisms such as microbes, plants, animals, and fungi are eco-friendly substitutes with low cost and mild conditions ( Jyoti et al, 2021 ).…”
