The [SiO 4 ] tetrahedron in the chain silicate mineral skeleton is linked by shared oxygen atoms and extends infinitely in a one-dimensional direction [1,2] Sillimanite (Al 2 SiO 5 ) has a double-stranded structure (Figure 1), in which [ SiO 4 ] and [AlO 4 ] alternate arrangement in the chain, sharing a cation.
