Synthesis of Plant Mediated gold Nanoparticles using Azima Tetracantha Lam. Leaves extract and Evaluation of their Antimicrobial Activities

Abstract: Aim:The demand for nanoparticles is increasing day by day due to their wide range of applications in various areas including pharmaceutical industry. Nanoparticles are formally synthesized by chemical methods in which the toxic and flammable chemicals are used. Methods: This article reports about an effective, rapid and eco-friendly technique for the fabrication of gold nanoparticles from gold chloride solution using Azima tetracantha Lam. leaves extract. The effects of the leaves extract of Azima tetracantha,… Show more

“…The AuNPs showed maximum activity against S. typhimurium and minimum activity against M. luteus amongst bacterial pathogens while among fungi they were effective against T. rubrum with minimal smaller effect in Cryptococcus sp. A clear concentration effect was found[34]. Nagalingam et al[24] reported efficient antibacterial activity of AuNPs synthesised using A. bettzickiana leaf extract against B. subtilis, S. aureus, S. typhi, P. aeroginosa, M. luteus, and E. aerogenes by agar well diffusion method.…”

“…The nanoparticles were effective against both larvae to more or less similar extent. Hariharan et al [111] synthesized gold nanoparticles using aqueous extract of A. tetracantha leaves. The synthesized nanoparticles were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeasts and dermatophytes.…”

“…Previous finding suggested that the absorbance range for Au-NPs is 500-600 nm. In a reported study on biosynthesis of Au-NPs using Azimat etracantha leave extract showed absorbance band was between 535-550 nm [18] . Similarly Au-NPs were prepared with the help of Azadirachta indica (Neem) leaf extract, which showed absorbance peak at 560nm [19] .…”
