Synthesis of PbTe Nanoboxes Using a Solvothermal Technique

Abstract: tions and confined by {010} facets. It has been observed that the WO 3±d nanowires are always accompanied by ordered planar defects distributed in the planes parallel to the growth direction. Combining experimental and simulated HRTEM images, we find that the planar defects are due to the accumulation of oxygen vacancies in {010} planes. The presence of ordered in-plane oxygen vacancies in the {100} planes are suggested as the driving mechanism for the formation of 3D networks. The presence of planar oxygen va… Show more

“…For example, single-crystal NiO hollow octahedra are formed through carbothermal treatment of NiCl 2 /carbon spheres at 460 8C in air. [341] Wang et al applied a solvothermal method to synthesize single-crystal PbTe nanoboxes with sizes of 80-180 nm, [342] in which the strong interaction between PEG X. W. Lou et al / Hollow Micro-/Nanostructures: Synthesis and Applications have prepared cubic Co 3 O 4 nanoboxes of about 300 nm in size (see Fig. 30), whose walls are constructed from compactly assembled cubic Co 3 O 4 nanocrystals.…”

“…From this figure, besides some ␣-Fe 2 O 3 nanocrystals (diameters of about 50 nm), large amounts of ␣-Fe 2 O 3 nanocrystals with relatively smaller size of about 5 nm can be observed. According to the literature, PEG can act as a reaction moderator and structuredirecting agent in the shape-controlled synthesis of different materials [20,21]. In our case, we considered that the addition of PEG can influence the growth habit of the nanocrystals and favor the formation of regularly shaped ␣-Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles.…”
