Synthesis of Palladium/Helical Carbon Nanofiber Hybrid Nanostructures and Their Application for Hydrogen Peroxide and Glucose Detection

Abstract: We report on a novel sensing platform for H2O2 and glucose based on immobilization of palladium-helical carbon nanofiber (Pd-HCNF) hybrid nanostructures and glucose oxidase (GOx) with Nafion on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). HCNFs were synthesized by a chemical vapor deposition process on a C60-supported Pd catalyst. Pd-HCNF nanocomposites were prepared by a one-step reduction free method in dimethylformamide (DMF). The prepared materials were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray di… Show more

“…Third, MME‐based sensor with a freestanding porous 3D structure has super large surface area, which is beneficial to enhance the adsorption of electrolytes and the diffusion of reactants. Compared to previous reports toward the H 2 O 2 sensors, our PVA‐NG/AgNP MME‐based H 2 O 2 biosensor has a lower detection limit of about 0.56 × 10 −6 m as seen from Table 1 .…”

“…Nonenzymatic artificial biosensors are being mushroomed over the past several decades. Commonly, various noble metal nanomaterials with electrocatalytic activity, including Ag , Au , Pt , , and Pd nanoparticles, have been studied as alternative of enzymes to construct sensitive hydrogen peroxide sensors. In order to reduce the cost of H 2 O 2 detection in practical application, a series of metal oxides or alloy of metal oxides such as iron oxides, tin oxide (SnO 2 ) , zinc oxide , nickel oxide and manganese dioxide have been used in the synthesis of new nanocomposite catalysts .…”

“…GOx could catalyze glucose oxidation to glucolactone in the aid of O 2 , resulting in the producing of H 2 O 2 . So the glucose detection could be achieved by measuring the produced H 2 O 2 [17,18]. However, the oxidation of H 2 O 2 needs a high positive potential [19], which might be severely involved in many interferents.…”
