Synthesis of P(NIPAM-co-Am)/Mesoporous Silica Composites and Their Temperature- Responsive Anion Exchange

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the structure and the temperature-responsive anion exchange property of amino-functionalized mesoporous silica coated with temperature-responsive copolymer, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylamide) (P(NIPAM-co-Am)). For this purpose, the composites which contained 0, 10, or 20 wt% of Am were synthesized. From the TG results, it was found that the amounts of copolymer immobilized on the mesoporous silica were 1.6-2.6 wt%. XRD patterns revealed that the structures of comp… Show more

“…The patterns of filament and print of MMC reveal a broad halo at 2θ~20 • , characteristic of amorphous samples. MCM-41 reveals an XRD pattern with peaks in low 2θ values, consistent with previous works [12,61]. The diffractogram of the physical mixture of MCM-41 with the drug presents peaks ascribed to both MCM-41 and celecoxib, with the peaks associated with celecoxib being significantly lower in intensity.…”

“…Yeung [10] prepared the ordered mesoporous silica adsorbents by grafting amino-and carboxylic-containing functional groups to remove acid blue 25 and Methylene blue dyes from water. Murakami [11] synthesized aminofunctionalized mesoporous silica coated with the temperature-responsive copolymer, poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide-co-acrylamide) (P(NIPAM-co-Am)), and investigated the temperature dependence of the adsorption/desorption of the methyl orange (MO) anions. Chen and He [12] synthesized functional chiral porous silica nanorods by a one-step process.…”
