Synthesis of Organic-Inorganic Hybrids of Poly(Tetramethylene Oxide)-Calcium Silicate and in vitro Evaluation of Their Bioactivity

Abstract: Bioactive organic-inorganic hybrids can be used as biomaterials for bone substitution because they exhibit osteoconduction and other functions due to their organic components, such as flexibility and bioabsorbability. In this study, we synthesized uniform organic-inorganic hybrids from triethoxysilane-functionalized poly tetramethylene oxide Si-PTMO , tetraethoxysilane TEOS and calcium chloride CaCl 2 via the sol-gel process. The starting composition of Si-PTMOTEOS molar had a weight ratio ranging from 2080 to… Show more

“…4(b′)). The band at 870 cm À 1 was attributed to Si-O stretching bands in silicates [30], while the bands at 800 and 685 cm À 1 were associated with Si-O bands in amorphous silica [31,32]. More importantly, the FT-IR absorption bands of PO 4 3− differed considerably among the sintered samples.…”
