Synthesis of Novel Substituted Isoquinolones.

Abstract: Synthesis of Novel Substituted Isoquinolones.-Curtius rearrangement of cinnamoyl azides derived from cinnamic acids is found to be a suitable method for the synthesis of many isoquinolones. For substrates bearing electron-withdrawing substituents at the phenyl ring, the route via rearrangement of isoquinoline N-oxides (VI) is more successful. -(BRIET, NICOLAS; BROOKES, MICHAEL H.; DAVENPORT, RICHARD J.; GALVIN, FRANCES C.
