Methods: Moxifloxacin-Au(III) and Ag(I) metal complexes were prepared by adding corresponding aqueous solutions of Au(III) and Ag(I) metal salts to methanolic solution of Moxifloxacin. These metal complexes were characterized by physio-chemical techniques like UV-Vis, 1 H-NMR, FTIR, XRD, DSC, TGA, SEM and microanalytical data. The disc diffusion method was used to study the antibacterial activity of the Moxifloxacin-metal complexes.

A general method for the preparation of bis-ureas from bis(o-nitrophenyl) carbonate has been developed. Directional urea synthesis is achieved by sequential amine addition to bis(o-nitrophenyl) carbonate in two steps: in the first step bis(o-nitrophenyl) carbonate is reacted with benzylamine to form benzyl-o-nitrophenyl carbamate; in the second step the carbamate is reacted with a variety of diamines in toluene to yield bis-ureas.

Organic carbamates represent an important class of compounds showing various interesting properties. They find wide utility in various areas as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals (pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides etc.), intermediates in organic synthesis, protection of amino group in peptide chemistry, and as linker in combinatorial chemistry etc. Classical synthesis of carbamates involves use of harmful reagents such as phosgene, its derivatives and carbon monoxide. Recently, various kinds of synthetic methods have been developed for the synthesis of organic carbamates. In the present review, I would like to highlight the recent developments on the synthesis of organic carbamates using variety of reagents.
