Synthesis of MoS2 Ultrafine Particles: Influence of Reaction Condition on the Shape and Size of Particles

Abstract: Nano MoS 2 (5-10) nm have been successfully synthesized using wet chemical synthesis in an aqueous solution employing ammonium molybdate, citric acid, and ammonium sulfide as the reactants. The high-speed homogenizer played a vital role to control size in the narrow range of (5-10) nm. XRD pattern reveals the broadening in peak intensity with the enhanced crystallinity of (002) peak at 10.4°, having a crystallite size 2 nm. TEM and EDX studies elucidate the presence of average particle size in the range of (5-… Show more

“…A new peak emerges at 32.8°in samples MSCCN5 and MCN10, which attributes to the annealed MoS 2 QDs. 36 As can be noticed, no significant shift in the diffracted peaks implies that MoS 2 QDs and carbon nitride exist as separate phases, and the same results can be evidenced from the observations using TEM images. The stainless steel XRD sample holder contributed the peak marked as a star at 44.6°.…”

“…It can be seen from Figure 2A, that with the increased loading weight of MoS 2 QDs from sample MSCCN1 to sample MSCCN10, the peak at 8.2° becomes broader, and the peak at 14.3° gradually disappears, which is associated with the incorporation of MoS 2 QDs. A new peak emerges at 32.8° in samples MSCCN5 and MCN10, which attributes to the annealed MoS 2 QDs 36 . As can be noticed, no significant shift in the diffracted peaks implies that MoS 2 QDs and carbon nitride exist as separate phases, and the same results can be evidenced from the observations using TEM images.…”
