“…Stone cultural relic protection coatings must have a low viscosity, which is also an important parameter 31 . In Figure 2, although the viscosity of the composite coatings increased slightly, it was still within a suitable range and met the requirement of cultural relic protective coatings 32 . In addition, the nano‐silica in the composite coatings had excellent performance in preventing the expansion of stone cracks 33 .…”

“…These results indicate that the contact angle of the paper after the restoration increased. This conferred certain hydrophobic properties to the paper and slowed down the moisture absorption of the paper cellulose and reduce the excessive contact of the cellulose molecules with the moisture in the air under high humidity, effectively alleviating the hydrolysis reaction of the cellulose molecules [ 43 , 44 ]. In general, the cotton mesh as a reinforcing layer had a slight effect on the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of the hydrophobic paper.…”

“…Paper is the crystallization of the long-term experience and wisdom of the working people in ancient China, and it has promoted the cultural development of China, Arabia, Europe and even the whole world [1]. As one of the four ancient civilizations, China's long history has left us a wealth of cultural heritage, among which paper cultural relics, as the main body of cultural inheritance, are rich in variety and number [2,3]. However, with the influence of time, preservation conditions, historical reasons and other objective factors, a large number of paper cultural relics appeared mildew, yellowing, cracks, embrittlement and other problems, and even completely powdered, making many precious paper materials destroyed in the long history [4 -6].…”
