Synthesis of mesoporous silica microsphere from dual surfactant

Abstract: A new procedure is reported to synthesis mesoporous silica micro sphere for the first time. In these method two surfactants namely Span 80 and Tween 80 were used. Small angle X ray diffraction and N2 adsorption analysis shows the synthesized material has mesoporous property. The material has spherical morphology with 1-10 µm particle size. Beside the material found to have microcapsule property as observed from the Transmission electron microscopy. The Fourier transform Infrared spectroscopic analysis reveals … Show more

“…A high peak around 2h = 1.0°indicates mesostructures presence within the materials. The similar pattern was reported by Narayanan (2008) on the preparation of mesoporous silica microspheres using Span 80 and Tween 80 surfactants [18]. No significant change in the XRD pattern ( Fig.…”

“…The actual yield was 90 % with respect to the theoretical yield of precipitated silica. The total weight of silica (SiO 2 ) present in whole sodium silicate was taken as the theoretical yield, as it is stated in [26]. The target metal concentration was 10 or 24 wt%.…”

“…Hence, the use of heterogeneous copper catalysts is often advantageous from the perspective of process development due to their easy handling, stability, effortless recovery and recycling [16,19,21,22,23,24,25]; the selection of the support is a crucial point to achieve these advantages. Cu NPs have been applied in nitroarene reduction immobilized onto various supports, including graphene [23], cellulose nanofibers [16] and magnetic carbon materials [26]. Mesoporous oxides are excellent examples of a good support, combining a high specific surface area with an ordered structure of wide pores and allowing a high concentration of active sites with free diffusion of reactants and products.…”

“…2 The general synthetic procedure of synthesis of the coumarin functionalized porous silica Fig. 3 FTIR spectra of the silica, amino functionalized silica, coumarin based silica and coumarin J Inorg Organomet Polym coumarin group on the silica surface shows the absorbance appeared at 3542 and 3434 cm -1 that was assigned to Ar-OH, 3088 cm -1 to aromatic C-H group, 1668 cm -1 to -C=O group of coumarin ring and 1611 cm -1 to -C=C-bound [23,24]. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns of pure silica, aminopropyl functionalized silica and coumarin based silica are shown in Fig.…”
