Synthesis of magnetic Fe3O4/polyamine hybrid microsphere using O/W/O Pickering emulsion droplet as the polymerization micro-reactor

Abstract: An O/W/O emulsion containing Fe3O4NPs and PEI was obtained using SM-CaCO3NPs as the stabilizer. In a droplet-to-droplet reaction mode, a magnetic polyamine microsphere was achieved by crosslinking PEI in the emulsion droplet with glutaraldehyde.

“…In this case the solid particles should be wetted by both monomer and solvent. 4,5 There are reports to use nanosilica, 6,7 CaCO 3 nanoparticles, 8 magnetic Fe 2 O 3 and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles, 9,10 graphene-oxide, 11,12 cellulose nanobrils, 13 starch nanocrystals 14 as Pickering stabilizers. In this regard, nanoclays were widely used because of their availability, ease of modication, thermal and mechanical stability, precise dimension (length $ 25-150 nm, thickness $ 1 nm) etc.…”
