Synthesis of ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxanes with fairly high regularity using 1,2-ethylenediamine as endo-template

Abstract: Ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxanes with fairly high regularity were synthesized using an endo-template 1,2-ethylenediamine at mild temperature via direct co-hydrolysis and condensation reactions in the presence of acid catalysts in the mixture of 1,4-dioxane/H 2 O. The features for synthesis of ladder-like polyphenylsilsesquioxanes were investigated in detail. The products obtained were characterized by FTIR, SEC, XRD and NMR.

“…In recent years, a number of scientific teams have suggested alternative methods for synthesizing polymers of this class [ 38 , 39 , 40 ]. However, despite the milder process conditions, they still involve multiple stages, require the use of solvents and catalysts, and, most importantly, cannot provide polymers with a high molecular weight.…”

“…It should also be noted that the L-PPSQ elements obtained had relatively low molecular weights (up to 2 × 10 3 Da). This approach was developed further [23,24] using ethylenediamine as a template for the preorganization of PPSQs. After hydrolysis of this structure, L-PPSQs with M w = 5 × 10 4 Da were formed.…”
