Synthesis of hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles by a liquid-phase microplasma-assisted electrochemical process for photocatalytic activity

Abstract: Dye contamination is becoming a more significant environmental challenge with the development of the textile industry. Scientists from all over the world are working hard to create new, more efficient ways to reduce environmental pollution through environmentally friendly synthesis techniques. In this regard, hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles have been synthesized by the novel, quick, cheap, and environmentally safe microplasma technique for the photodegradation of rhodamine-B under direct sunlight. Thus, the s… Show more

“…When the nanocomposite is irradiated with xenon lamp irradiation, the electrons of ZnO and ZIF-8 could be excited from their respective valence band (VB) to conduction band (CB), results in the generation of holes in the VB. Due to the band positions, the electrons from the CB of ZIF-8 could transfer to the CB of ZnO [69][70][71]. Similarly, the holes from VB of ZnO get transferred to VB of ZIF-8, which promoted the separation of photogenerated charge carriers and improved the photocatalytic degradation efficiency.…”
