Synthesis of fungal chitosan–polystyrene modified by nanoparticles of binary metals for the removal of heavy metals from waste aqueous media

Sabha M. El-Sabbagh,
Hamed I. Mira,
Osman A. Desouky
et al.

Abstract: Fungal chitosan was extracted (via the biotechnology route) to produce a novel composite for the removal of Cd ions from wastewater. It consists of a chitosan core and nanoparticle-decorated polystyrene shell to conserve chitosan at low pH.

“…This finding strongly implies that the sorption of U(VI) on these biochar materials occurs under very favourable conditions. It further confirms that, regardless of the initial uranium concentration, the adsorption of uranium onto PBC, PBC-SA, and PBC-Zn is not only effective but also preferable (El-Sabbagh et al 2023). PBC, PBC-SA, and PBC-Zn, respectively, and that the heat-adsorption process's binding constant is 0.34, 3.41, and 2.57 L g -1 for PBC, PBC-SA, and PBC-Zn, respectively.…”

“…process takes place inside the surface pores(El-Sabbagh et al 2023). In other research, the same various response mechanisms were mentioned(Abdel-Magied 2017;Morshedy et al 2021; Adsorption isotherms show the relationship between the concentration of a solute in the solid phase and the aqueous phase at a given temperature.…”
